Global warming has exposed Earth to the risk of experiencing a number of catastrophic events in the near future. Ambition and Works
Since the establishment of IRENA in January 2009, more than 140 countries around the world have become a part of the organization. The sole purpose of the group is to help in the development and implementation of renewable energy systems in as many places round the globe as possible. Mandated by the governments of various countries around the world, IRENA aims to suppress the use of non-renewable sources of energy and promote sustainable utilization of various forms of renewable energy. Many believe that IRENA is a replication of the International Energy Agency that was established in 1973. This is true to a certain extent, as IRENA would act as policy advisor to many countries and facilitate transfer of technology among various nations around the world.
The Objective
Along with providing relevant statistical, theoretical and practical data to several nations around the world, IRENAs main objective is to find solutions to various problems and challenges that would come into picture while developing energy efficient systems that utilize renewable sources of energy to function. The increasing numbers of aggressive climatic changes and phenomenon like heat waves, cyclones and melting of glaciers can be attributed to the use of fossil fuels. These fossil fuels increase the concentration of greenhouse gases like methane, carbon dioxide and water vapor in the atmosphere which leads to global heating. Fossil fuels can be replaced by renewable sources of energy but in order to do so, financial and economic problems need to be addressed. IRENA would typically work on finding financing solutions for various renewable energy projects, getting over technical barriers, finishing and finalizing the legal paperwork and spreading awareness about the vast potentials of renewable energy.

The International Renewable Energy Agency was founded in Bonn, Germany on January 27, 2009. Since then, the organization, under the guidance of Hélène Pelosse, has accomplished a number of feats and many projects have already been completed in various developing nations in the world. The need to save the environment can be felt all over the world and in order to do this, it is important for governments to take initiative and come up with a plan to mutually co-operate in order to work towards the betterment of the environment.
