Energy Conservation Products

Informative article on: Energy Conservation Products
We are burning through our natural resources at record speeds and if we continue to do so while giving nothing back, soon there will be nothing left to take. Luckily, there are now quite a few energy conservation products on the market today that will provide considerable savings and help the environment in the process.

Water Saving Showerheads

You can install Lower-Flow Showerheads. They have improved vastly since their first appearance years ago. The older ones didn't really give you much water pressure at all. With new advancements in technology, you can still get a really good quality shower while conserving water by using one of these showerheads. Saving water will conserve energy because we have to use energy to heat our water and the more hot water we use the harder our hot water heater has to work.

Drip Stop Faucet Washers

A lot of water is wasted by leaky faucets. To help prevent your faucets from leaking you may want to install Drip Stop Faucet Washers. Ninety percent of leaks are found in hot water pipes, and it takes energy to heat water. Many of these leaks are simple to locate, while others may be a bit more difficult to find. The first thing that should be done is to turn off all the faucets, and then go outside to look at your water meter. If the meter is still running, then you have a leak somewhere. Repair all leaks and then install the Drip Stop Faucet Washer. These washers enable your water pressure to create a leak-proof seal.

Lighting Products

While they are initially a bit more expensive, LED light bulbs will save you up to 80% on your lighting bill. These light bulbs have a life of approximately 10 to 25 years longer than incandescent bulbs, so the extra money spent switching over to these bulbs will come back at least ten fold on energy savings over the long run. These light bulbs also reduce the output of heat so that air conditioning won't have to work harder to compensate.

Energy Efficient Washing Machines

Today there are several washing machines that are energy efficient. These washing machines will save you up to 30% in electric and use less than half the water a regular washer uses. If you have had your washer for a number of years, you might want to consider shopping for a newer, energy efficient model. Make sure that the Energy Star logo is visible on appliances being purchased.

Energy Efficient Refrigerators

Older model refrigerators are not insulated as well as the newer, more energy efficient models. Energy Star has certified several refrigerators so there are many to choose from. If you need a new refrigerator, it is suggested you purchase one of these more energy smart models that use about 20% less energy.

The list of energy conservation products is almost endless, so when purchasing products for the home, keep in mind that there are a good many products on the market that can help lower utility bills while helping to protect the environment. Watch for the Energy Star compliance label and compare annual savings from product to product. The good you are doing for the environment should be directly proportionate to the energy savings you realize.
