A common question is how can a diode produce light in my electronics? This means no flickering start up like fluorescent lights. Since the diode that creates the light does not use power when the device is off, it will not have any off state power draw. Diode light production is a simple matter to understand and at times can be easy to repair. Many times when a LED lighted display is missing a section of light it is just because the diode or heat sink that is part of the LED chip had burned out. Depending on the type of electronic device, you may be able to replace the LED chip yourself. However, many times diode light supply is used in tiny devices such as cell phones and even watches, these may be a bit difficult for the average person to repair. Diode produced light in electronics is an efficient and safer choice than traditional filament lights. They produce little heat, use less energy, and tend to last longer as well.
