Hope you find this article on "LED Lighting Products" written by our LED expert useful.
The number of LED lighting products are growing exponentially all the time because there are so many advantages to using LED lights over incandescent or fluorescent bulbs. LED lights are used in everything from properties and officers to vehicles and flashlights.

History of LED Lighting

LED, short for Light Emitting Diode, is a semi-conductor light source that was introduced in the early 1960s. In the past, LED´s were typically used as indicator lamps in many devices. The early LED´s emitted low intensity red light but the more modern versions are found in a rainbow of colors. When an LED is turned on, electrons are able to combine with holes in the device, releasing energy in the form of photons. This is called electroluminescense. The color of the light, which corresponds to the energy of the photon, is determined by the energy gap of the semi-conductor.

Types of LED Lighting Products

There are now a wide variety of LED lighting products or products that make use of LED´s available in the U.S. These products include desk lamps and other types of personal lighting, recessed lighting, televisions, signage, outdoor and landscape lighting, marine and boat lighting, high powered flashlights, accent lighting, plant grow lighting and cellular phone back lighting to name a few. In fact, wherever you look these days, there are LED´s being used for the light sources. The types of LED lighting products are endless. For camping there are even hand crank powered LED flashlights that have the ability to charge phones and USB devices without a battery.

LED Lighting While Driving

One of the biggest commercial uses of LED´s is thanks to the automobile industry. Because of the energy efficiency, durability and brightness (light quality) of the LED´s, they are being used in everything from headlamps and taillights, to dashboard illuminators and indicator lights. Even outside the car, the traffic lights and highway notice boards contain LED´s; even the police officer that may pull you over will probably shine an LED flashlight in your face! LED Lighting has really taken a firm grip on the low energy lighting requirements of the world today.

LED Lighting In and Around the Home

One product that is making its appearance on the average consumer level is that of standard residential lighting. From standard indoor lighting solutions, pool lighting, deck lighting, decorative lighting, landscape and garden lighting to drive way lighting, LED´s are making their way into homes due to their energy efficiency, ultra clean bright lights and the various colors and designs that they come in. A major advantage of these lights is that they can last up to 100,000 hours and are safe since they don’t contain chemicals such as mercury.

LED lighting products are now found everywhere you look. Because of their cost efficiency, newly improved technology, and ease of use, LED lighting products will continue to be more and more popular.
