LED based lighting is a wise choice for interior or exterior lighting solutions that last longer than other light bulbs, use less electricity, and are simple and easy to maintain. LED bulbs are being used consistently in homes and businesses because of these reasons.
LED Longevity
One LED light bulb is going to outlast any other bulb, and this includes fluorescent, incandescent, and even halogen lighting. LED bulbs dont just wink out leaving a room in darkness as other bulbs do, instead LED based lighting gradually fades over time, so it is easy to know when an LED bulb needs replacing. This wont happen for a number of years, however, because LEDs have a life capacity of about 50,000 to 100,000 hours. In comparison, fluorescents tend to flicker and die after about 3 years, a halogen bulb will last for approximately 6 months, and incandescent lighting may only last for a few months.
Efficiency
When using an incandescent bulb as a light source, a good share of the light gets lost before it can even reach the targeted area. LED based lighting is much more brilliant and focused, and the emitted light beam focuses full strength on the area being viewed. Eye strain that is typically experienced with incandescent lighting is all but eliminated with the use of LED bulbs. Because these bulbs require very little, if any maintenance, they are ideal lighting solutions for hard to reach areas. They are cool to the touch and safe to use in any application, and can provide up to 5 times more light than traditional light bulbs.
Environmental Considerations
Unlike a traditional light source, LED based lighting consumes far less power to operate and over time can make a substantial difference in the amount of electricity that is being used globally on a day-to-day basis. LED bulbs do not contain the mercury or gas that is found in other bulbs, and there are no ultra violet rays emitted, nor is there any infrared heat. Switching to LED bulbs means that landfill waste can be reduced over time because these bulbs last virtually forever; they wont need to be tossed out, and wont contribute to the growing pollution problem.
Cost Considerations
LED light bulbs do cost considerably more than conventional bulbs; however, the cost will be recovered over a short period of time due to the fact that they are incredibly energy efficient. This advantage will be directly reflected on the monthly electric bill, and will continue to build over time. Replacing all the conventional light bulbs in any home with LED lighting will result in exceptional savings, and more than make up for the initial cost.
LED based lighting designs are made for any décor and any situation. Whether it is indoor or exterior design lighting, there are hundreds of design innovations to choose from for home, office, decks, pools, landscapes, and more.
