Interior LED Lighting

Hope you find this article on "Interior LED Lighting" written by our LED expert useful.
Interior LED lighting offers lighting solutions that are not possible to attain with conventional light bulbs. While LED lights may be a little more expensive as an initial investment, they last considerably longer and use far less energy.

LED Benefits in Lighting

Interior LED lighting has several advantages over conventional light sources. LED bulbs consume a very low amount of energy compared to what a regular light bulb will use. They also last considerably longer, and many have longevity of up to 50, 000 hours or even 100,000 hours in some other cases. Most LED light bulbs are warranted for anywhere from 3 to 5 years, depending on the company that is manufacturing them. LED bulbs are extremely durable, and are ideal for use in situations where lights are switched on and off frequently.

Interior Advantages

LED light sources are ideal for task lighting in the home. They provide excellent light distribution when focusing on the job at hand and interior LED lighting is able to be dimmed or brightened as needed. There is also no color change when these lights are dimmed as there may be with certain other bulbs that have the tendency to turn yellow over time. LED lights can be handled safely because they do not heat up as do conventional bulbs. Unlike incandescent bulbs, LED lighting does not have a ballast to cause static or interference with other electrical appliances.

Initial Expense

LED light bulbs are considerably more expensive than any other light bulb. A retrofit bulb can cost anywhere from $25 to $60 for a small light, lamp, or even a night light. The long range savings, however, make even an investment of only one or two bulbs very cost efficient over time. Replacing bulbs in smaller lamps that use a lower wattage make the energy saving much more viable an option. Cost effectiveness can be attained by replacing conventional light bulbs with interior LED lighting over a period of time, instead of all at once.

A Few Disadvantages

Other than the initial cost of replacing traditional lighting with interior LED lighting, there are a few slight disadvantages to be aware of. LED lights are extremely sensitive to heat, and inappropriate use may reduce the functionality of the light, or even limit the life of the bulb. LED’s also are also only able to cast light at a very narrow angle, so if a wider light span is desired lenses will need to be used to make the area of light broader. These minor disadvantages are a relatively small matter when compared to the long term efficiency of the LED bulb.

Replacing traditional light bulbs with LED’s is one way to make a positive impact on the environment. Not only will energy usage be lowered, but there will be no mercury in the landfills because there is none in the LED bulbs. Switching to interior LED lighting is a safe and environmentally conscious choice, and an excellent way to save money because they cost much less to use.
