Blue LED Lighting

Hope you find this article on "Blue LED Lighting" written by our LED expert useful.
Blue LED lighting is in very close range, almost similar to the wavelength of UVA light. This makes blue LED lights very effective to treat many diseases and conditions. Here are some of the most common applications of this kind of lighting.

Psoriasis Treatment

Typically, dermatologists have been using UVA light in combination with drugs for the treatment of psoriasis. Psoriasis is a non-contagious inflammation in the skin, which affects millions of people each year. Often, the most recognized treatment is through light therapy. This kind of therapy, also called phototherapy has seen several success stories round the globe. In order to ensure a higher success rate, it is important to use the blue LED Lighting along with the appropriate drugs to treat psoriasis. UVA rays tend to penetrate deeper into skin tissues but when it comes to psoriasis, they do not treat the condition completely. Usually, a drug called psoralen, which is light-sensitizing, is added to UVA ray treatments. This treatment is called PUVA.

Acne Treatment

One of the other uses of blue LED Lighting is in treating acne as well as scars associated with acne. As per independent studies and experiments conducted by the British Journal of Dermatology, blue LED light has been clinically proven as being very effective for acne treatment. Many people would have noticed that upon exposure to sun rays, their acne usually clears a little. This is because of the spectrum of blue light, which helps in diminishing acne. However, it is not necessary to expose the skin to harsh sun rays and increase the risks of skin cancer. Studies reveal that LED blue light within the range of 405 to 420 nm kills the bacteria, which result in acne.

Suicide Prevention

One of the revolutionary uses of blue LED Lighting seems to be in the prevention of suicidal tendencies. In Japan, train stations have been installed with blue LEDs. Research indicates that blue light calms the mind and thereby reduces suicidal tendencies. Suicides are very common at Japanese railway stations and in addition to the tragedy they also hamper other commuters who need to reach certain destinations on time. While suicide barriers have already been installed across railway stations, they have not had much impact in curtailing cases of suicide. This is where blue LED lights are being seen as a subtle way to help prevent this issue.

There are several other noted uses of blue LED lights. This lighting is best for chart or map reading and serves its purpose when used in hand-held types of lighting devices. In addition, crime scene investigations usually use blue light to identify bodily fluids and blood. This is also used by hunters to follow blood trails left by injured animals. Often, blue light is used in key chains to illuminate small items like keys and locks. Unlike white LED lighting, blue light is softer and devoid of the harsh glare. From assisting in the cure of disease to preventing suicide, blue LED lighting has many uses and should be considered by many for this reason.
